CRESTON HIGHWAY 34 SANITARY SEWER IMPROVEMENTS
Creston, Iowa
The City of Creston selected Veenstra & Kimm, Inc. to design their Highway 34 sanitary sewer improvements in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Transportation Highway 34 reconstruction. The 1.8 miles of highway construction extended from the City's Corporate Limits to west of Laurel Street and east of Sumner Street to Chestnut Street.

The Sanitary Sewer project included 28 utility access and 7,900 linear feet of sanitary sewer main and 74 sanitary sewer services.

The City received a block grant for $300,000 from the Southern Iowa Council of Governments towards the cost of the sanitary sewer project. The remaining funding came from the Iowa Department of Transportation and the City of Creston. The sanitary sewer portion of the winning bid for this project was $1,551,895. The final cost of the sanitary sewer portion of the project was approximately $1,449,672.


Special Features
Special features of the project:

•Construction was staged to minimize the impacts on the business owners along the Highway 34 corridor.

•The sanitary sewer was let in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Transportation Highway 34 reconstruction plan.
